Assessments of Candidates and Graduates Redesign Team

Co-Chairs:          Dr. Kristine Servais, North Central College

Dr. Joe Pacha, Illinois State University

The charge to the Assessments of Candidates and Graduates Redesign Team is to develop draft criteria for rigorous, systemic formative and summative assessments of candidates and graduates as part of the new approval criteria for principal preparation programs.  Candidate assessments should occur throughout a principal preparation program and be based on the qualities known to improve student learning in schools and aligned with the new Illinois School Leader Standards. Program assessments should also be based on graduates’ performance in school leadership roles as measured by student learning and other indicators of school improvement.  The Assessment of Candidates and Graduates Redesign Team will need to work closely with the Residencies and Internships Redesign Team to support their efforts to include criteria for hands-on, practical leadership experience in which candidate performance is meaningfully assessed.
